How to Choose Your Stand-Up Paddle
Stand-up paddles should be your height plus 6 to 12 inches depending on your type and style of paddling. Wood paddles typically have more “give” and flexibility. As a general guide, see here:
Getting Started on the Water
- Place your feet approximately shoulder width apart in a stable position on the board.
- Position your body centered at the middle of the length of the board for the best balance.
- Bend your knees slightly.
- The handle is a great reference for a comfortable balance point.
